About the Role:

Under supervision of the Payroll and Benefits Manager, the Payroll & Benefits Specialist will prepare, disburse, maintain, and review payroll, salary adjustments, payroll taxes, and year-end processing; administer an effective benefits program; maintain the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to ensure accuracy of payroll and benefits administration; and provide ongoing employee support.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for reviewing and updating employee records, monitoring email boxes, ensuring compliance with various state minimum wage requirements, process garnishments, assist new hires with benefits enrollment, and respond to ah hoc payroll reporting requirements.

This position also is responsible for administration of the company’s 401(k) plan and serves as the primary point of contact for this plan for employees.  Other functions include completing yearly nondiscrimination testing for 401(k) and Section 125 plans, providing information to 401(k) auditors; producing, reconciling, and uploading payroll contributions files to provider according to applicable laws.

Minimum Requirements, Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field is required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in payroll and benefits is required, with preference given to those who have experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of payroll- and benefits-related laws and requirements, including but not limited to COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, FLSA, and payroll tax laws are required.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is strongly preferred.
  • Accounting background is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
