The L’Aquila earthquake has devastated tens of thousands of lives and 287 were lost. 

Even after the quake there have been over 450 aftershocks. Over 30,000 people are homeless. 10,000 to 15,000 buildings were either damaged or destroyed in the 26 cities, towns and villages around L'Aquila.
