Business Network Rewires the "Bush Telegraph"
Australians call it "the bush telegraph"; in America, it's known as "word of mouth." Whatever the moniker, the message gets spread without anyone having to lift a finger.
Ivan Misner has taken this principle and transformed it into a business form. His organization, Business Network International, formalizes the practice of networking, and since being formed in his native America 21 years ago, has spread around the world.

Lifesaving Powers of Networking"Networking is a small-business lifesaver," says international best-selling author, Dr. Ivan Misner. The Secret to Success!
I've been a member of BNI here in Melbourne for over five years. Prior to that I was a member of The Leads Club for over a year, and before that, I attended whatever networking events I could find out about. The first book I bought before I started my business was 'Networking for Success' by Robyn Henderson, and that helped me get established. I've been in business over 12 years.
Along the way I got caught up in some industry and technology changes and ended up being a founder of the Virtual Assistant Industry in Australia. You just never know where things are going to lead.
It was good to hear and meet Ivan Misner during his visit to Melbourne. I own a number of blogs, three of which are business related, and posted an article about the experience on 07/07/06.

One of the first things that members of the recently formed Coastside Chapter of Business Network International learn is remembering to bring their business cards everywhere they go.
Membership means handing them outhand over fist.
That was one of the first lessons emphasized by leading members who formally announced the organization's launch Thursday morning to about 50 members of the Half Moon Bay business community over a continental breakfast.
