Ancient Site Spawns New Chapter

The city of Modiin started its first BNI chapter on June 19. Modiin is the site where 2400 years ago the Macabeans began their successful revolt against the ancient Greeks who governed the Middle East then.

The Modiin chapter core group led by Hagit Gita and Nettie Feldman has nine members, and 50 guests have confirmed their participation, with seven set to join on the opening day. Ofra Passal, the Regional Director for Jerusalem and Modiin, said that this is the first time in BNI Israel's history that the grand opening featured a Kosher East Indian breakfast.

BNI HAPPENINGS — South Africa
Patience Offers Huge Payoff

Elenor Russell was one of the founding members of the Kenilworth chapter (now renamed Southern Cross). She owns two "B & B's"; one in Muizenberg and one in the southern part of the Drakensberg Mountains in a village called Rhodes.

After not getting one referral for almost a year, a young man joined our chapter. He only stayed a short while before transferring to England. When his mother later came on holiday to Cape Town, she stayed at the B&B in Muizenberg.

Following her visit, the woman recommended Elenor's guest house to many friends. Life if now good! Guests loved the accommodations and many had needs fulfilled by other BNI members while visiting.

Member Takes One for the Team

Sandy Hotz, a real estate agent with Remax and a member of Southern Cross chapter, has worked in the Kenilworth area for some 23 years. She had sold homes across, next to and behind Karen Kuh's home but had not had direct dealings with Karen.

When Karen decided her home was not looking so good anymore, she called Sandy in for a valuation with the intent to sell.

Sandy said that the lovely Victorian townhouse would be difficult to replace and instead suggested that Karen contact an architect.

Mike Wolters, a founding member together with Sandy, was consulted. He made some changes, called in the builder, plumber and electrician, all of whom made Karen happy. In the process she was introduced to an accountant and insurance broker.

Sandy may not have made a sale but has a happy client and many happy BNI members.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Writer's Guidelines for SuccessNet
We want to hear from you! SuccessNet Online needs your input. SuccessNet is truly YOUR newsletter. We ask you to consider the following tips when preparing your submission for SuccessNet:
  • Writing style should be clear and concise. Keep your sentences short and give us details. Be specific.
  • Use the inverted pyramid format, with your information leading us to the point, rather than giving all the details up front.
  • Use dialog in your submission: John said, "BNI made a huge difference in my business."
  • Be sure to include your name, chapter name and business name. When applicable, list your web address and we'll insert a hyperlink to direct readers to your website.
  • If appropriate, give us dollar values for your chapter brags and testimonials.
  • We would like digital photos of your chapter or regional events! As you can see from this first issue, we are able to have many more local-flavor articles and reviews. With your photos, include a brief description of the event, who's in the photo, and the name and city of your chapter.
  • Please also include your web address with your submission, so we can direct our readers to your site.
  • Please send your submissions to newsletter@bni.com
The types of submissions we are seeking are for Chapter Brags, Memory Hooks, BNI Happenings (your regional news), any other special announcements, success stories, or things your chapter has tried that have been successful.

Thank you!
