Passion Breeds Success
Author Advises Doing What You Love

Find a person who is passionate about their work and you'll likely find a success. This according to a man who has spent years gathering evidence in the form of stories written by the famously successful.

In his latest book, Masters of Success (Entrepreneur Press, 2004), Dr. Ivan Misner has built a veritable anthology of the successful. The book, which is already a best-seller, answers the question "what is success" by coming at it from multiple angles. What emerges from this unique volume are trends that, according to Dr. Misner, are unmistakable. One of the common traits that Misner identifies is having a passion for what one does.

"The contributors to this book," Misner says, "demonstrate the role of passion in achieving success. Their stories illustrate the many roads to finding the passion that drives people to succeed. Some found that passion early and steered by this bright star; others found it almost by accident, simply by doing what felt right and letting that lead them wherever it would. According to Misner, our modern world, rife with choices, only makes it more difficult to find what we are passionate about. "Freedom of choice," says Misner, "presents new dilemmas. Instead of being shoehorned into a few traditional productivity roles, we can, at least in principle, combine talents with our freedom and find work to do that we like. When we do so, we often discover enthusiasm about our work that we can transform into passion."

Misner describes passion as the "fuel for success." In his estimation, very little of worth has ever been accomplished without at least some passion.
