Beth and Ivan Misner have presented this scholarship for the past 11 years to a deserving GHS graduate who has shown strong leadership both in school and in the community.
"Gladstone High School is my alma mater and I wanted to be able to support a candidate each year for this scholarship in the area of leadership due to my involvement in student government throughout high school and college," Dr. Misner states.
Gladstone High School's career center selects a student for this scholarship based on the Misner's prerequisite that the candidate has participated each year in student leadership, either ASB, class officer or even club officer, as well as community leadership such as youth groups and other community programs.
"The student's GPA is not a huge factor, although they do need to be doing well in school," Beth Misner says. "We want to see a well-rounded student who is able to focus on school while showing promise as a student leader receive this scholarship. We also like to see students who might not be able to afford college due to socio-economic factors be awarded the Misner Leadership Scholarship."
