Colin Read, Assistant Director for Scotland South and East, and Iain Whyte, Executive Director for Scotland South and East, have been riding Harley Davidson motorcycles across America for seven days and they have five days left to go until they finally reach the BNI Headquarters marking the end of their trip.
To ensure that their trip is commands attention, the duo has ridden their motorcycles while wearing kilts the entire time and will continue to wear kilts for the duration of the trip. Said Colin, “Being Scots, we wanted to take this journey to a tougher level, so we’ll be wearing traditional kilts throughout the trip to get noticed. But maybe we’ll also pack some long johns in case our legs suffer from too much exposure!”
The journey is close to Colin’s heart, as the money they raise will be going to the Moebius Research Trust, a charity set up by Colin and his wife after their son George was born with Moebius, a rare congenital disorder which left the five year old unable to smile, blink, or even frown.
In addition to trying to raise ₤200,000 ($393,700 USD), Iain and Colin have been meeting up with BNI members and directors throughout their journey, assisting with a series of high profile networking events.
